Happy Pancake Day!!!

Today was National Pancake Day and our class enjoyed celebrating this unique holiday!!  We talked about how to make pancakes, designed pictures of our "ideal" pancakes - which included lots of chocolate chips, sprinkles, whipped cream, blueberries, strawberries and even some watermelon! :)    We read "If You Give a Pig a Pancake" and "Curious George Makes Pancakes" and then we made pancakes!! :)  Here are our thoughts on how to make pancakes and a few pictures from the day!!
How Do You Make Pancakes?
by Mrs. Willis' K/1 Class

We put chocolate chips in it and bake it.  Then we eat it for dinner.  –Avery

We get the sugar stuff and put it in a glass bowl.  With pancake stuff and water.  Then we stir it and put in a pan.  We wait for it to cook and mom flips it.  And then she flips it onto a plate.  –Ella K.

We buy them, we don’t make them, because it makes a big mess.  –Camden

First we get a measuring cup, then we pour some eggs into it and mix it up with sugar in.  Then we put it on the stove, sometimes with chocolate chips and whipped cream. –Mailin

First we put the mix in a bowl and water in.  Then we mix it.  Then we put it on the pancake maker.  We flip it.  –Peyton

First we have the pancake mix.  Sometimes my dad puts blueberries in them.  –Owen

First we put the batter on a pan to get it all ready.  One time I had a pancake with chocolate chips, powdered sugar, syrup and whipped cream!
-Kellen

First we get pancake mix.  We spray the pan so the pancake won’t stick, then we pour it on the pan.  Sometimes we add food coloring.  We add syrup.  –Alyssa

Sometimes we make them with syrup and chocolate chips and we put it in the pan.  –Colin

First you get the grill out, then the pancake mix and chocolate chips and blueberries.  Then we make them.  –Ella T.

First you get the pancake mix and measuring cup out.  Then you pour the mix into the measuring cup and put water in it.  Then you put it on the stove.  –Aydin

First we add pancake mix.  Then we put the mix onto the pan and let it get warm.  Then we take it off, add syrup and eat it.  -Wesley

Getting to know our Community Helpers...

A couple of weeks ago our school had some very special visitors!  From the Bomb Squad!  Now, don't worry...there weren't any explosions at the school, but Ella's dad, and his co-worker, brought down all of the bomb squad equipment!  We got to learn about the robots they use to put the explosives into a safe place and meet two special dogs, Sasha and Cheeto!  Enjoy the pictures - and thanks to Ella's family for the great presentation AND these pictures!  (Since, Mrs. Willis forgot her camera that day!)  **Click on the pictures to view them larger**
